FINSI helps restore over 2,000 communication lines in typhoon-stricken Cebu localities

Newly-launched engineering services firm Fiber Infrastructure Network Services Inc. (FINSI) has helped repair and restore more than 2,000 Globe communication lines in Cebu in the wake of the devastation of Typhoon Odette.

Telecom network providers sustained damage due to the powerful storm, including downed lines in parts of Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao, affecting tens of thousands just before Christmas.

Restoring connectivity in typhoon-stricken areas has proven crucial in the delivery of life-saving aid to affected communities.

In the immediate wake of the typhoon, FINSI deployed specialized support teams and vehicles to Cebu despite challenges presented by fallen trees, damaged roads and bridges, and lack of power. It also sent an additional eight teams this month to expand manpower on the ground and speed up urgent restoration efforts.

“Our teams of local experts worked around-the-clock on-site to bring telco services back to normal. With networks now up and running, we also hope to aid in easing the delivery of relief operations to many affected Filipinos in Cebu. In the coming days, FINSI will continue to work with designated teams and local agencies to ensure communication services are restored in all affected areas,” said Marc Kerveillant, FINSI General Manager.

FINSI support teams and vehicles leave for Cebu to help in the repair and restoration of downed Globe lines in the province.

FINSI is the first local engineering service provider for major telecom companies in the country. It helps telcos accelerate fiber rollouts and provides end-to-end solutions for construction, building, installation, and maintenance.

Local telcos are intensifying efforts to lay down fiber connectivity across the country, amid growing demand for high-speed internet due to rapid digital adoption.

Through innovative, leading-edge technologies and world-class local expertise, FINSI aims to accelerate the Philippines into a connected nation. FINSI is a subsidiary of shared services provider Asticom Group of Companies, which is wholly owned by Globe.

FINSI is one with the Globe Group in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the UN Global Compact principles and contributes to 10 UN SDGs.
